Street magic is one of the world's oldest performing arts, part of the trade known as "busking." The first magic text ever written in English, the barrister Reginald Scot's 1584 treatise, "The Discoverie of Witchcraft" was written in order to keep street magicians from being burned at the stake.
Brian performs a street magic show which uses only a brand-new deck of cards, a sword and a slew of members of the audience. Cards are invisibly flung through the air, "pickpocketed" from one audience member and secreted on another under the noses of watchful bodyguards recruited from the crowd.
The show concludes with two spectators selected to participate in a duel, from which there can be only one victor. Insults are hurled, countercharges are leveled, weapons are chosen, battle is waged and one combatant is bested in mortal combat! In the end, there is vengeance, mercy and a stunning display of skill and dexterity.
Brian's "Devil's Playthings" show is perfect for summer festivals, faires and other outdoor venues where a stage is not a consideration. Brian can provide his own sound equipment, or hook into a existing amplifier: all the client needs is a source of electricity. For more details, e-mail Brian at the address on the "Contact" page.
